An important part of the Christian life is not only resting in the love of God but embodying that love in the world. Sometimes it can be hard to figure out how to do that. A part of our call as a Christian ministry on campus is providing concrete opportunities to serve and listen to our neighbors on and off-campus. Another part of our call as a Christian community is to work for justice. We ask questions about systems that separate us from God and the world God loves, that denigrate and destroy the beauty, uniqueness, and dignity of God’s beloved creation. We confess our complicity in those systems and advocate for those systems to more clearly reflect the Kin-dom of God.
Upcoming Service Opportunities
As a community, we monthly go serve somewhere in the Twin Cities! For a couple of years now, we’ve been partnering with Shobi’s Table, a pay-as-you-can food truck ministry in St. Paul. Check out our calendar for when we’re serving next!
Queer-Inclusion
We are a queer-inclusive community. We welcome all who are seeking God’s love and grace, regardless of race or culture, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or relationship status. LCM-TC, and each of our partner churches on campus are reconciling churches, and the gifts of Queer folks are witnessed in leadership, and celebrated and integrated into the life of the community. Our unity is in Christ. Learn more about the work of Reconciling Works here.
We also have a regular queer & questioning gathering space! Email Dana for more info about Queer Bible Study!
Racial Justice Work
We are a community that is on the road, and learning together, about the ways that racism is woven into the ways we see the world, understand ourselves, and relate to God. This takes different forms in different years, but includes book studies, honest conversations, work to end cash bail, on-campus partnerships, retreats and training focused on anti-racism, and a continued commitment to create spaces where we learn and grow together.
Interfaith Relationships
We know that we have much to learn from other faiths and we seek opportunities to meaningly connect. Our primary interfaith relationships are with the Muslim Student Association and with Minnesota Hillel. Visit our calendar to learn what is happening soon!
LCM Lending Library
A few years ago, our students had the idea of creating an LCM Lending Library, a host of books that you can rent out from us, all related to different faith and justice topics. Click below to check out a book and see the titles that we have!
