A Warm Welcome to New Students!
Hello Gophers!
As I enter my sophomore year of college, I remember last year when I began school at the University of Minnesota for the first time. I was excited for my new life to start, but not everything went as I thought it would.
Transitioning to the U, where everything is so big and unfamiliar and scary made me feel lost and unbelievably small. There are so many expectations that come along with being granted admission to such an excellent university. Keeping your grades up, joining all of the amazing clubs, taking advantage of all the resources provided to you, making new friends, finding a home here, and not to mention trying to pay for all of it. It all seemed to just be noise, with no release or sense of belonging.
Lutheran Campus Ministry-Twin Cities gave me that belonging. I entered the sanctuary for pause (our Wednesday night student worship) and was immediately welcomed. The people at LCM-TC actually wanted to get to know me, and invited me into this family made up of people who will accept you no matter what you look like or how you think or where you come from or what your major is or how you identify.
There was just an overwhelming amount of love and comfort within the LCM-TC community.
Life as a college student can be crazy and overwhelming, but LCM-TC is a great way to take a pause from the chaos and feel at peace. If you’re looking for a home away from home, new friendships, or deep discussions you won’t have anywhere else, come check this community out.
We are all so excited to meet you and grow with you. Bring all of the joy, sadness, confusion, frustration, and excitement you can, because we want all of it!
Hope to see you soon!
