Take a breath and rest on the Fall Retreat!
While it might be in the 80s on campus this week, our community is excitedly looking forward to one of the best parts of our year together: the Fall Retreat! Don’t miss out on this restorative opportunity to get off campus, explore creation, connect with God, and get to know new friends!
We go on retreat in October because that’s the time in the school year when we all need to catch our breath, and connect with ourselves, with God, and with others. It’s the time when we all need to be reminded who we are, and whose we are, that before or beyond anything we do or don’t do, we are beloved, chosen, and marked by God’s love. The Fall Retreat is a chance to be reminded of this truth in a beautiful setting with awesome people!
Whether you have been involved with LCM for years, or we haven’t had the chance to meet you yet, know this retreat is for you! We know it can be a little scary to sign up for a retreat the second week of school — especially if you’re new to campus and our community. But from years and years of doing this retreat, every student that has gone has loved the break it offers them in the semester and the chance to find belonging in Christ & community, too. Here’s how one of our student leaders described going on his first Fall Retreat:
“After only attending pause a few times, I signed up for the Fall Retreat. As a brand-new member of the community, I felt apprehensive about making what felt like such a large commitment right away. However, I felt so welcomed on the trip. Everybody was so kind, and I got to talk to many new people I hadn’t met before. I felt really supported and welcomed right away, and this was made especially clear on this trip. I love LCM for this belonging, community, and a true caring by everyone in the community.”
-Erik, Student Leader
During the retreat, we have lots of open space for you to do what you need to rest (including study time if you need it!), and just enough formalized time so you can get to know people you don’t know well. We’ll be at Luther Crest Camp which is a beautiful spot in Alexandria, MN and Pastor Kate’s pumpkin pancakes on Saturday are not to be missed — a true highlight of the weekend!
The retreat is October 3-5, and cost to you is $50, thanks to generous donors. Scholarships are available! Just indicate that on the sign-up form.
We hope you can join the fun! Register as soon as you can, but for sure by Sept. 26th. If you have any questions, reach out to Pastor Kate!
